Al-Kitabu al-Majisti is an Arabic translation of Mathematike Syntaxis, a mathematical and astronomical treatise written in the second century AD by the Greco-Roman philosopher Claudius Ptolemaeus of Alexandria. The translation was made by an unknown Saracen scribe at the request of the caliph Al-Ma'mun in the 9th century.
